What is the difference between substitution reactions and addition reactions of hydrocarbons?

Ans. In substitution reactions of hydrocarbons, one or more hydrogen atoms are replaced by other atoms or groups of atoms. In addition reactions of hydrocarbons, addition of atoms or groups of atoms occurs across the carbon - carbon double or triple bond.
