Science has contributed to human happiness (Counterview)
We live in the age of science. Our life today depends on the innumerable discoveries and inventions of modern science. Right from the ordinary ceiling fan to the complex computer, science plays a big part in our lives today. Inventions like the telephone, TV, radio, computer, cell phones and satellite communication are really wonderful inventions. Inventions like the train and the aeroplanes have cut down travel time considerably.
Machines of great skill and efficiency have changed the face of India. In the fields, we now have tractors and harvesting machines. We have pesticides and chemical fertilizers to protect the crops and increase the yield. In the houses in cities, household appliances like the washing machine, refrigerator, grinder and the microwave oven have made things much easier for the housewife. She is freed from the drudgery of housework, and can use her time and energy to pursue a successful career. Antibiotics and many life-saving drugs have helped man fight against epidemics and diseases, and live a long and healthy life. With the advancement in medical science, now organ transplants are possible.
The inventions of science are essential to human happiness and we certainly cannot do without them. In short, science has provided man with all the material means necessary for a long and happy life.
