It made me realize how know God is and rejoiced in the sweet melody rendered by the lark. Instead I felt I was blessed with wealth in abundance as I could see and hear the bird and could feel the warmth of the sun and the love of the forest. One fine morning I bloomed, my now white petals stood around my yellow centre, like the rays of the sun. I was a poor despised flower, nobody noticed me, but that didn’t bother me, I was happy.

I began to be hope and pray that one day, when we were at peace I would meet her. I somehow knew she would return and also felt certain that she’d bring me something to eat. To,
The Editor,
The Times of India,
Dadar (W),
Mumbai – 400 021.

Subject: Improper disposal of plastic carry - bags.

Dear Sir,
The way we live reflects our decisions, choices we make and our responsibilities as individuals and societies. While we all aspire for a modern and sophisticated lifestyle, we cannot deny that the way we have been living is
obviously not sustainable.

One of the most visible symbols of our throw-away society and unsustainable lifestyles is the abusive use and improper disposal of plastic carry bags, which have emerged as a major environmental issue in many countries, including obviously in India.

Though very convenient and practical for use in view of their strength, durability, lightness, excellent barrier properties for water and gases and low cost, plastic carry bags cause much damage to our environment and may take between 400 and 1000 years to break down in the environment.

Kindly, make this letter public so more and more people will become aware of the ‘nuisance’ value of plastic.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
X y z.

Q. 6. B. (2) Write a Report about the celebration of the ‘Republic Day’ in your college.

Report on Republic Day Celebration.

India won her freedom on the 15th of August, 1947 and became a Republic on the 25th of January, 1950. The new constitution of free India came into force with effect from this day.

It is a day of national rejoicing and a red letter day in our country. The day is celebrated with pomp and show, zeal and spirit, throughout the length and breadth of the country.

The day was celebrated in our school with great eclat. The school building was tastefully decorated with flower-pots, buntings, pictures of heroes of the freedom movement and national flags. We were beside ourselves with joy. A dais was raised. Loud speakers were fitted.

We reached the school at 9AM We were all in Khaki uniforms and Gandhi caps. The programme began at 9-15 A.M. The worthy Headmaster unfurled the national flag amidst loud cheers. The N.C.C. cadets saluted the 'National Flag.'

Some selected boys sang the National Anthem. Then there were some very inspiring national songs sung in chorus. These were followed by stirring speeches by the students, teachers and some prominent citizens.

We were told that the country had won political freedom but it was yet to win economic freedom. For it we had all to toil and make every sacrifice that was demanded of us. The President made a neat, little speech which was very impressive.

Then the boys staged a one act play which was very much liked by one and all. The senior boys performed a Bhangra dance. It was the highlight of the programme.

In the afternoon we had games and sports. Prizes were distributed among the winners of different sports and games. Sweets were distributed among the boys.

At night, the whole school building was illuminated. Tricolours fluttered proudly on the school building. It was a sight to see.

It fact, it is a day of rejoicing and merry-making. May we continue celebrating this day forever!

Q. 6. C. (1) Answer any One of the following:

(1) Read the following tree diagram and prepare a short paragraph regarding ‘Soil erosion’

Ans. Soil Erosion: There are various reasons for soil erosion. The natural causes are air, water and fire, but, what is worse is that soil erosion can be due to manmade factors, like excessive cultivation. All these factors that bring about soil erosion, results in floods and barren lands. This isn’t good for the environment so dams are built and contour farming is undertaken to prevent further soil erosion.

Q. 6. C. (2) Prepare a paragraph to be used for counter view - section of the following topics

“There should be dress - code for Junior College Students”

Ans. Dress code for the college students absolutely unnecessary.
Discipline can be enforced by various other means rather than a dress code. I support that dress code should't be their. Because now think from the perspective of a student. We wear dress in school life about to 12-15 years. After that we are again wearing dress in college life. After that we have to also further wear the dress in companies or organisations. Then when will the time come when we wear our own dresses other than college dress. I think that's the good time to wear them. Also a person is known for its intelligence not from dress code so no matter what am i wearing but it matters that i have manners I have respect for others.
